Fees:
The foundational prerequisite course for the Cosmetology and Barbering pathway. Students explore the history of hairstyling, salon safety and infection control, essential hair care, hair design principles, and basic haircutting techniques. Through classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a lab environment, students gain technical skills while applying safety standards mandated by OSHA, the EPA, and state boards. The course also incorporates workplace readiness, professional ethics, and leadership training through SkillsUSA.

A 1.0-credit course designed for high school students (grades 9–12) enrolled in Cosmetology or Barbering programs. Building on foundational prerequisite courses, this class prepares students to safely and effectively perform a variety of chemical texturing services, including permanent waves, chemical relaxers, straighteners, and soft curl perms.
Students gain hands-on expertise and theoretical knowledge in chemical composition, scalp and hair analysis, infection control, and proper chemical safety procedures. The curriculum also covers diagnosing scalp conditions, understanding chemical reduction reactions and pH levels, and recommending appropriate home care treatments for chemically treated hair. Student participation in SkillsUSA is integrated to build essential leadership, communication, and workplace-readiness skills.

An advanced hands-on learning course designed for students in grades 10–12 who have successfully completed two or more prerequisite courses in the Cosmetology and Barbering program. Serving as an individualized learning laboratory—whether hosted in a traditional classroom, virtual environment, or industry workplace setting—this course allows students to refine occupational expertise, conduct industry research, and master high-level technical skills tailored to their career goals. Integrated with SkillsUSA, the program emphasizes critical thinking, workplace safety, professional communication, and leadership development to prepare students for direct entry or advancement in the cosmetology and barbering fields.
Fee:
A 1.0-credit course designed to introduce students to the foundational principles, chemistry, and techniques of coloring and lightening hair. Students explore color theory, hair structure analysis, safety and sanitation, and specialized applications ranging from permanent and oxidative dyes to balayage and color correction. Through practical application and CTSO participation (SkillsUSA), students develop essential technical expertise and workplace readiness for careers in cosmetology and barbering.
